Nietzsche Masterclass Ep. 3 | The Ubermensch

“…Yet these preachers of equality who call themselves the just, they are full of fury and ambition. What do they have that we do not?
Have you ever roared like them? Have you ever cried like me?

Ah! If only. If only you wailed like this while on your knees crying up to heaven.
I see you for what you are; you wail so you can convince yourself that you believe in something.

But tell me then, when you wail to the world above, where is the lightning to lick you with its tongue? Where is the frenzy that will entrance you?
I teach you the Ubermensch, he is that lightning, he is that frenzy.”

Thus Spake Zarathustra

FEELING SPARKED?

You’re in the corner, there is a crew around you. The jokes come easy. They’re all hanging on to your every word.

You are setting the agenda. You are the source of the energy in the room. You are the light of the party.

You snap awake the next day. Did you take a limitless pill?

You are buzzing.

Your skin is alive. Your mind is razor sharp.

You have no urge to consume crap on the internet. You have no sadness floating over you.

You start writing. You don’t know why. You just feel the need to create. You have to let it out.

You write differently. Synapses sparked.

A volcano full of movie scenes is erupting in your mind.

But you can’t keep up. The eruption is too severe. You are overwhelmed. There are too many vision searing past your minds eye at once.

You are desperately trying to capture them with words. It’s all you can do.

It doesn’t feel like writing. It feels like you’re channeling a force of nature that lives within you.

What in the world is going on?

IMPULSE

We humans have a habit of over-complicating ourselves.

Emotions are just energy. Conscious is just electricity.

Yet. what that energy feels like inside of our being is incredibly important…

When your energy is weak you feel dead inside. Life is empty and dull.

You feel like Life is depressing you. Gravity feels stronger. You feel impotent against it. Thinking about the future feels heavy. Creativity feels difficult. Your mind feels stuffy and slow.

Life is suffering.

Of course, feeling the opposite is something we all get a glimpse of from time to time:

  • Your words feel magic
  • Your mind feels fast
  • Your body feels vibrant.

Things come easy.

But this is not the normal mode of being for most people. Most of the time, most of us are inanimate and dead.

Most of us are in a heavy mood, and are stuck craving energy.
Most of us draw the energy out of social media, pornhub, or other people’s drama.

When it gets bad enough we find ourselves suckling at BigZapp’s nipples to get those good chemicals.

IDENTITY

Worse still is how we come to understand ourselves when lost in this state.

We feel that this normal state of being is hell. Lying alone in our room depressed. Hating the pointless job we do. Groaning as we hear another bill slip through the front door.

Worst of all, we can’t see any reason for why we go through all this crap. We hate this reality. We hate who we are. All we feel like is a loser who is destined to suffer. We want to become something else.

That’s when the fantasies begin. Dreams creep into our minds about being the handsome millionaire or the pretty actress.

We begin to believe that if we could become that person the heavy energy would go away.

Or perhaps not, perhaps we are above such superficial dreams, perhaps we tell ourselves we are a moral person. The new identity we chase isn’t some materialistic dream, but instead a crusade.

We become political. This new version of ourselves has an identity. This new person has something to get fired up about. The source of our depressing moods is actually the left and their identity politics or the right and their racism.

In our long search to feel animated we settle on this. Our dreams tell us we’ve found something to die for.

ZAPPENING

Nietzsche saw all this in his day. It has not left us.

Today more than ever we have hordes of inanimate zombies roaring passionately about their trending crusade.

Ok, ok, its true, sometimes there are causes worth fighting for, but that doesn’t change the root of all this excessive crusading: people feel dead inside.

Shouldn’t we address this problem at this level? Is there a way to empower people to feel animated? Can we get them to plug out of Techno-Satan’s matrix and erupt energy out of themselves?

Of course, Nietzsche figured all this out 100 years before you were born.

He saw how the thirsty status seeker or the crusading activist was chasing after a dream that they believed would make all the pain go away if it came to pass.

Of course, the dreams never quite live up to expectations.

His solution was so incredibly simple, and smart. Why don’t we create a dream that was based on the feeling of being animated?

Instead of you becoming an activist, a supermodel, or a rich guy, why don’t you become electric?

Instead of you being merely human and doing your little part for the cause, why don’t you become super human?

Oh dear, don’t tell me you… don’t believe you have it in you?

NIETZSCHE’S INSPIRED VISION

The Ubermensch only really appears in Nietzsche work during Thus Spake Zarathustra.

Nietzsche wrote Zarathustra part one in 10 days.

He describes is as being zapped by inspiration. As being given a gift. And this gift ended up being his most memorable concept: the superman.

But also his most misunderstood.

I’ve made my juiciest podcast to date demystifying this incredible idea so you can get filled with the electric energy that Nietzsche so soulfully wanted to transmit to people.

Yes, you heard that right, Nietzsche didn’t want to be the mean guy who tries to hurt your feelings that most people who don’t understand him try sell you.

He saw humanity as struggling in great pain and wanted to figure out an actual way to lift their spirit that didn’t involve silly words or moralizing.

He was gifted an answer in his vision of The Ubermensch.
